Westside Activities

Our students like to stay active. Learn about just a few of the extracurricular activities we offer below.

5th Grade Choir

Our Kids Chorus is open to 5th grade students who enjoy singing and want to have fun performing in the community. Kids Chorus begins the second half of the school year and meets on most Tuesdays in the Westside Music Room from 3:15 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Please contact our music teacher for more information.

Color Run

READY, SET, RUN! At the end of the year students get bright colors rained on them in the Annual Color Run! The route takes them around the vicinity of Westside. Shirts are provided by the Parent Teacher Council

W.E. Bots Club

Full STEM Ahead! Our W.E. Bot Club offers students hands-on experiences in designing, creating, and programming Lego robots. By applying a combination of science, technology, engineering, and math concepts and skills students will problem-solve and code their robots to complete selected challenges. In order to make the W.E. Bot Club a successful experience for all, there are some ground rules, also known as “the code” that everyone needs to follow. It is important to read the code carefully and make certain you are willing to commit to it.

  1. Attendance: All W.E. Bot kids must attend at least 75% of the clubs each month in order to make progress and participate in challenges. That is about ¾ each month.
  2. Responsibility: All members are responsible for the kit assigned to them.
    • Keep all parts in your kit. Do NOT mix your pieces with others.
    • Keep track of all your parts. Do not lose them.
    • Treat the pieces and parts well.
    • Check out kits at beginning of club and check in kits at end of each club.
  3. Work cooperatively. Everyone is assigned a partner with whom they will collaborate and share a robot. Teamwork is a goal.
    • Share the kit.
    • Use kind and helpful words.
    • Listen to one another’s ideas and questions.
    • Plan together and problem-solve together. Two minds are greater than one.
  4. Show grit! This club requires everyone to learn from failures and try hard to find solutions.

Using state-of-the-art technology is an important skill to acquire in our 21st-century world. Our W.E. Bot Club makes concepts of science, technology, engineering, and math fun!

Contact us if your child is interested in joining our W.E. Bot Club.

Student Council

The Student Council is the voice of Westside Students. Students are provided an opportunity to serve in a leadership capacity at all grade levels. Student Council works with teachers and the principal in identifying ways to improve the school and help the community. The Council organizes monthly school spirit days, operates a school store, plan fun dress up days, participates in school activities, and promotes bucket filling and good citizenship throughout the school!

Our Student Council sponsors are Stephanie Belmont and Sunshine Dunkerley
